Silent Auction 2010
Silent Auction Chairperson John Silver (D4) is already starting the work for the 2010 Silent Auction in Pasadena. John is encouraging all Districts to participate this year by donating a silent auction item valued for at least $50.00. Donations from Service Providers are especially welcomed. John is hoping to collect several donating by April so he can start generating interest early on. John and his committee have set a goal to raise over $7,000.00 this year for the Foundation.

More Training Money from the Feds
The U.S. Department of Labor announced Jan. 6, 2010, that it will be dispersing nearly $100 million in green jobs training grants as authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The grants will support job training programs to help dislocated workers and others to find jobs in expanding green industries and related occupations.

Through the Energy Training Partnership Grants being administered by the Labor Department’s Employment and Training Administration, 25 projects ranging from approximately $1.4 million to $5 million each will receive grants.
