Is your company one of the best places to work in Los Angeles?

For the 5th year in a row, PIHRA is proud to sponsor the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Best Places to Work Survey.  With competition to hire and retain top talent being so fierce, this survey recognizes companies that are redefining the employee experience in the 21st Century.  After the results are tabulated, there will be an awards event which unveils the rankings and then all results will be published within a special editorial supplement of the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Important Dates:
•    Online Registration – April 2, 2010
•    Survey Completion – April 23, 2010
•    Notification Letters Sent – June 7, 2010
•    Best Places to Work Awards Event – August 2010
•    Winners announced within the Los Angeles Business Journal – August 2010

The Award Categories:
• Best Places to Work: Small-Sized Companies (15-24 employees)
• Best Places to Work: Medium-Sized Companies (25-249 employees)
• Best Places to Work: Large-Sized Companies (250-1,000 employees)
• Best Places to Work Mega-Sized Companies (1,000+ employees)

The Process:
The process begins by registering your company online at The deadline to register is April 1, 2010 (this deadline is for registration only, not for survey completion).  Any company with at least 15 employees working in Los Angeles is eligible to participate in the process.  Your employees will complete a survey which takes about 15 minutes and the company will provide information which can take about 6 to 8 hours to compile.  Unlike many events of this nature, there is no cost to participate and any company going through the process will automatically receive a top-line report giving them some of the basic information learned from their employees.  In-depth reports will be available for purchase but are not required.  Over the years, we have had many companies provide feedback about the value of these reports. Understanding employees can prove to be valuable in setting policies which can affect company morale and productivity.

The survey and tabulation process is managed by the Best Companies Group.  They have revamped the process and tools used in an effort to add more value to the Best Places to Work assessment process.  You are free to review the new and improved employer questionnaire, employee survey and Employee Feedback report samples found throughout the web site.  Highlights of important improvements include:

♣    Postage-paid return envelopes for the paper survey process.
New this year for the paper survey process: Postage-paid return envelopes! Employees simply complete their survey, place it in the envelope and drop it in US mail! Please see the FAQ’s for more details.
♣    Submitting email addresses just got easier!
New this year for the online survey process: Email upload portal! After registration closes, companies surveying online will be asked to upload their list of employee email addresses into our online upload portal. Best Companies Group will perform a random selection of email addresses for companies with over 250 employees.
