July 2012 President’s Message

July 2012 President’s Message
by Richard Propster, SPHR-CA

At a minute after noon on the second of July we will officially move into the last half of two thousand twelve.

The first half of the year was highlighted by record attendance at each of our Legal Update and Mid-year Legal Update sessions, over 5,000 participants at District content sessions, an ever increasing attendance at our monthly webinars.   Through shared passion at the Revlon Run/Walk for Women members and supporters also reaped an additional $11,273 for breast cancer research. You should be proud of the fact that over the last decade plus, Team PIHRA has raised $123,372.81 for this vital cause.

Looking ahead, we still have much to realize from our membership in PIHRA before 2012 fades into history.

High on that list should be the myriad networking, learning and advocacy opportunities available through attendance at the 2012 PIHRA Conference and Exposition at the Anaheim Convention Center August 27- 29th.

Conference planners have designed a schedule with over 70 concurrent sessions organized into learning tracks including:

  • Strategic Management
  • International human resources
  • Employment Law and Legislation
  • Talent Management
  • Personal and Leadership Development
  • Compensation & Benefits

We are especially proud of this latter track as it marks the beginning of what is sure to be a growing partnership with WorldatWork and affords attendees certified through that organization the opportunity to gain recertification credit as well as HRCI recertification including 16.75 Strategic, 16.75 General, 13.75 California and 8.75 Global recertification credit hours toward HR Certification Institute certifications.

You should have received our pre-conference brochure mailing by now.  If not, information and assistance is available via email to info@pihra.org or by calling (310) 416-1210.

I look forward to seeing you in Anaheim.
