August 2012 President’s Message

August 2012 President’s Message
by Richard Propster, SPHR-CA

Member-centricity comes when an Association not only claims to value your membership, but also takes substantive steps to see that you receive value in return for that membership.  During my time as PIHRA president, I have championed three imperatives for providing that member value:  Networking, Learning and Advocacy

Networking opportunities have been facilitated through nearly 300 events hosted by PIHRA entities ranging from presentations on emerging issues to networking mixers as adjuncts to business gatherings.  Learning has been presented through hundreds of content sessions at Districts, PIHRA-wide events, written communications and webinars. Advocacy has been enhanced by arming members with information needed to “make our case” and through participation in personal and written communication with those responsible for crafting laws and regulations affecting human resources and the companies we serve.

Late this month, members and interested others will have a unique opportunity to network, learn and advocate all in one venue.  Our annual Conference and Exposition has been designed to:

  • Afford attendees time dedicated to networking,
  • Provide opportunities to participate in an array of learning from a menu of over 70 content sessions affording up to date information of practical as well as career value plus HRCI, CLE and CEBS credits and
  • Advocate by making your voices heard directly to the Board of Directors during our annual meeting, with executives at our CEO Day functions and by voting at the mock election held by the Legislative Affairs Committee.

I encourage you to participate in this Conference and promise it will provide value far beyond its cost – guaranteed!
