September President’s Message

September President’s Message
Richard Propster, SPHR-CA

I am deeply appreciative of the nearly 2,000 members and supporters of PIHRA who came together to make the PIHRA 2012 Annual Conference & Exposition another resounding success!

Vice president for Education Dennis Buster, SPHR-CA and the PIHRA staff once again gathered a congregation of expertise and energy that provided networking, learning and advocacy opportunities unequaled by any similar event.  It is impossible to individually mention the many who actively participated in making our conference such a success, but please know that your contributions do not go unnoticed.

This Conference set a record for sessions, HRCI credit available and the energy level of the participants—attendees and exhibitors!  We doubled participation in Bosses’ Day and consider their active participation an endorsement of the value of our sessions and exposition.  Once again, the House of Blues provided a great venue for camaraderie as well as the roll-out of our California HR Conference® brand.

In addition to exceptional session presentations, we added a fourth keynote presenter this year.  While Ryan Estis, Assistant Secretary of Labor Kathleen Martinez and Lance Jensen Richards were all remarkable, I’m sure attendees will be quick to attest that the house really rocked during the presentation by SHRM Vice President Pamela Green, SPHR.   Thank you all.

On another front, I extend our sincere appreciation to Mike Deblieux, SPHR-CA, for his many years of content contribution to PIHRA publications.  His wisdom and practical advice will be missed.  We wish him all good things as he continues to serve the HR community.
